The Village of Lawrence has been receiving inquiries on its position in regards to Saturday Oct 31 Halloween Trick or Treating, given the COVID-19 crisis.
As a reminder, Halloween Trick or Treating is a nationally recognized celebration rather than a Village of Lawrence sanctioned event. Other than announcing the recommended hours of 5 to 7 pm on Saturday October 31, The Village has no further involvement.
The Village of Lawrence has no legal authority to cancel Halloween or the movement of people throughout the Village.
We do advise residents to listen to the recommendations of public health officials from VanBuren/Cass County and the State of Michigan, especially as we get closer to October 31. The Center for Disease Cont (www.cdc.gov) lists trick or treating as a high risk activity in regards to Safety
Tips for trick -or-treaters and parents: • Wear a mask • Social distance if not in the same household • Any household with a positive case should not participate • Any individuals with symptoms should not participate
