The Village of Lawrence is accepting applications for a qualified contracted Zoning Administrator and Code Enforcement Officer.

The officer shall act in an individual capacity as an independent contractor and as such, shall be responsible for reporting his own income for tax withholding purposes. The zoning administrator and enforcement officer should have the equivalent of the following training and experience: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED. Ability to understand architectural plans, construction documents, blueprints, and site plans. A deductive, logical system of thought common in reading and interpreting legal documents. An ability to read legal descriptions and similar documents pertinent to zoning administration.

Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in code enforcement, investigations, code interpretation or a related field. Working knowledge of zoning law or past experience as a zoning administrator preferred, and effective written and oral communication skills. Must possess good organizational skills to prioritize and schedule work load appropriately, to be able to work independently with little supervision, to meet deadlines, to keep good records and must have current valid Michigan vehicle operator’s license and provide own transportation.
